Facebook is the owner of metaverse

After reading this, you’ll come to understand whether or not Facebook is spearheading the metaverse.

Nearly 30 years ago, before facebook became meta, there was “Metaverse” which originated in the 1992 science fiction novel snow crash written by Neal Stephenson.

Neal Stephenson, the sci-fi writer predicted the future where users get computer-generated bodies like avatars and these avatars can go shopping, hang out with friends, and do the physical things in the metaverse.

Onto Facebook, does the company own it?

In the founder’s letter, Mark Zuckerberg pointed out the vision behind meta

“We are at the beginning of the next chapter for the internet, and it’s the next chapter for our company too. The next platform will be even more immersive — an embodied internet where you’re in the experience, not just looking at it. We call this the Metaverse, and it will touch every product we build.”

Mark Zuckerberg

Facebook isn’t the owner of metaverse neither is Mark. He envisioned the metaverse to be the future of social connection to better immerse people beyond the physical world.

In the metaverse, people could get together with friends and family, work, learn, play, shop and build.

Therefore, Metaverse is the future version of the internet where we can interact using virtual and augmented reality headsets.

As metaverse is constantly evolving, users can collaborate, meet, game, buy and sell cryptocurrencies, and socialize to the core.
